Claude Monet

I felt like adding a little more colour to the page, so I thought I'd do a post with some Monet paintings. I went to see some of his paintings back when they came to Sydney for the "Monet and the Impressionists" exhibition at the Art Gallery of New South Wales. My favourite things about his art are his use of colour and light. The whole Impressionist art movement was concerned with captured an 'impression' of a moment and with the use of light. That's why there are evident brush strokes and a blurred look about the Impressionist paintings - the idea was not to replicate every tiny detail.

Collars

I'm a big fan of the current trend with cool collars (in fact I'm wearing a dress with a peter pan collar right now). Collars give a polished, stylish look and you can also be really creative with them. You can also buy lots of nice detachable collars now as well. Here are some of my favourite pictures of collars that I've found:

100 Years of Style

This is a really cool video for Westfield which they made last year when they opened an East London store. It goes through a hundred years of fashion. It's very interesting to see how things change over the years. My least favourite styles were the disco and punk ones. I like most of the stuff before the Seventies and I only like certain parts of the more recent decades.

European Palaces and Castles

I love all kinds of old and ornate buildings with beautiful architecture - especially palaces and castles. I just felt like posting these pictures today, so here they are. Look how picturesque Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany is! Of the ones below, I have been inside Windsor Castle and stood outside Buckingham Palace. I definitely plan to visit the other three in future as well.
